I this picture at the last Nicholson family reunion I attended with my mother in 2016. Pat and I went to Woodlawn Church the Sunday that I was there. It was the church that my grandparents had attended. We had made plans to someday get together 
and work on the family genealogy that our grandmother Sommerfeld had put together. I think I have really missed this someday.

What a beautiful Celebration of Life.  Pat touched so many lives with her genuine faith, unconditional love and heart for children.  She was an incredible blessing to all who had the honor of knowing her.  She was a very special part of the Thomsen family.  I have many, many fond memories of Pat as my babysitter and friend.  Games, crafts, chocolate chip cookie dough, KISS concert, “Santa’s Special Helper” wisdom, compassion, loyalty, fun to name just a few….

May her family and friends take comfort in knowing that she loved God & loved others with her words, actions and heart.  She is now rejoicing and at peace for all of eternity 🙏🏼💕🎚

Pat will be remembered by everyone whose life she ever touched and I am one of them. She always greeted you with a smile, which may be an inherited trait from our mothers because I do that too, I always liked family reunions when the Sommerfelds were there, because  there was a lot of activity. 

Pat was a sweetheart, kind and caring. When my dad had heart surgery in Des Moines, Pat came and visited us during the surgery, which really helped to make the waiting easier to endure. I know she was there mostly for my mom, and Mom, Helen Nelson, was very happy to see her. We all were, and we were thankful and really appreciated her for spending her time with us that day.

As a long time class mate of Patty's at Lohrville school, I remember her fondly as a bright and cheerful presence for our classes.   She has left a positive mark among all those who knew her.   Rest in peace....



Pat and I knew each other from the time we were born, and then we went to church together. We especially became friends when we were in a Bible study group together as adults when we lived in Lake City.  Even though after several years our group broke up because Pat moved to Ankeny, I moved to Glidden & then other places, and the Toyne's moved to St. Joseph, MO. We were still close and tried to see each other - we traveled to Missouri, then they all came to Davenport and then we gathered at Pat's apartment in Ankeny. We connected several times over the years. Then when I moved to Ankeny we saw each other a bit more often -- and always we managed to talk on the phone. I know how much she loved her family -- she would always update me on her family, especially those nieces and nephews. I'm glad I was able to call her my friend.

My mother and Pat's mother were friends in their teenage years. Pat was born three months to the day before I was, and she and I were also friends for many years. Many years ago we bowled on the same womens bowling team, and I have wonderful memories of our adventures every year going to the state tournament. Pat was such a caring and kind friend. May she rest in peace with her loved ones in their Heavenly Home. 

Pat was ALWAYS kind, patient,caring person. She was a very  good Sunday School teacher. She was always there to help in whatever proje t the church had. Sh0e will be greatly missed.   Suzy Hart
