Terry Oller, 64, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

A visitation will be held on Thursday December 6, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W First St., Ankeny, Iowa 50023). A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday December 7, 2018 at First Family Church (317 SE Magazine Rd. Ankeny, IA 50021). A private family burial will take place following services.

Terry was born on July 15, 1954, in Toccoa, Georgia, to Frank and Thelma (Dickson) Oller. Terry grew up in Silvis, Illinois and graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa. Following graduation Terry went to work as a salesman for various millwork businesses, ultimately finishing his career with Moehl Millwork. He met his wife, Tracy, in 1979 and the couple was married August 8, 1981. The couple was blessed with two children, Whitney and Ryne.

Terry will be remembered by those who knew him as a humble, caring man who always made time for people. Even during his toughest days, he found something to smile about and that positive attitude drew others to him. He was a great athlete and used his love of sports to connect with others.

There is no doubt how much Terry loved his family. From coaching his children when they were young to throwing a ball with the grandkids, he was happiest when he was with family. He worked hard, never hesitating to pick up extra hours or jobs, but did it all without seeking recognition. He was there for his family in so many ways.

Survivors include his wife; Tracy, daughter; Whitney (Joshua) Neville and their children Sophia, Piper, and Liam, son; Ryne (Elizabeth) Oller and their daughter Taylor, sisters; Peggy (Richard) Shaffer, Sharon Kelley, Joann (Michael) Waldron, Nancy (Steven) Glider, Sisters-in-law; Kelly (David) Messenger, Robin (Terry) Anderson, Janae (Timothy) Jelsma, Alyson (Mark) Skahill, parents; Thelma (Dickson) Oller.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Frank.

Dear Tracy,
I am so sad to hear of Terry’s passing. I have so many great memories of you and T.O. I didn’t know T. O. had been ill. Please know I have been and will continue to pray for you and your family as you grieve Terry’s passing. I know he will be missed greatly by you and many. When my brother Joe and Paul get together and memories of basketball stories begin, there are always stories of T.O. and the joy and laughter that he brought wherever he went. He loved life and people. Praying for you as you continue on without him.
Lots of love and prayers,
Jana Matthiesen

I met T.O. when I was a college Freshman playing basketball. Even though he was an upperclassman, he always treated everyone with grace and kindness. We played ball together for a number of years and he will be remembered as a truly nice guy. I am sorry to hear of his passing and am thankful that while you mourn, we have great hope!

I never knew Terry as "Terry." I only knew him as "T.O." I remember him as a great guy, and always having something funny to say. My favorite memory of T.O. was from our college days at Faith. There were several of us who would sit in the same row in chapel every day. He always called it "Hard Guy Row." I still think about that, even though it has been MANY years since that time. Please be assured of my prayers for your family. God will give comfort and peace to you.
