A celebration of Rhonda‘s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 14 December 2021, at the Ankeny Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Rhonda was born on 5 December 1969 to Ronald D. and Sharon S. (Meyer) Gutwein. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior when she was five years old, kneeling by her bed. Through the years she had many opportunities for growth as a Christian and appreciated the lessons she was learning. She continued to reflect on the “Five Things to be Thankful For,” acknowledging God‘s goodness, care, love, provision, and protection each day. She reflected on the truths of Scripture and sought both to memorize and live them out.
Rhonda‘s dog “family” was very special to her. Tucker, her most recent Golden Retriever, was a source of many smiles and much encouragement. The attention to and from him brought hours of happiness.
Rhonda enjoyed music - singing the hymns at church…or church “by phone”… playing her keyboard…and listening to special music - choirs and concerts. She appreciated fellowship with friends and sharing a sense of humor with an infectious laugh.
Rhonda‘s interests included reading - particularly books about history. She enjoyed crafts – knitting, latch hooking, rubber stamping…Gardening was fun…whether to pick and eat tomatoes, cucumbers, and such…or to watch the beauty of God‘s creation with so many varieties of flowers. Rhonda enjoyed cooking and baking and trying new recipes or making up some of her own. Jigsaw puzzles and table games with Mom gave hours of fun and sharing. She had an interest in watching pro football and baseball.
She enjoyed her years of working at the Faith Baptist Bible College Bookstore in Ankeny where she greeted and assisted customers and oversaw and sorted mail daily for 400 students.
Rhonda was a thoughtful, caring, cheerful, thankful, sensitive, and creative person who loved the Lord. She related to Christ as the Good Shepherd - her Good Shepherd…and now is in His presence.
Rhonda is deeply loved and will greatly be missed by her mom. Friends and family, too, will miss her. She was preceded in death by her father, Ron.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Missions Fund at Ankeny Baptist Church.
