Richard Samuel Scott went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 13, 2025. Richard was the son of Wesley Alvin Scott and Anne Juliet (Langosch) Scott. He was born September 7, 1943, on the family homestead in Kinde, MI.

A funeral will occur Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Community Baptist Church, 4703 N Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA 50021. A graveside service will occur Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Lone Pine Cemetery, State Highway 149, Martinstown, MO 63565.
Richard graduated from North Huron Schools in 1961, attended Bob Jones University in 1967-68, and graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College in 1975. He was a quality inspector at Dico-Dyneer until the closing of the company and then retired from John Deere in 2009. However, his greatest accomplishment was being a loving husband, guiding father, and gentle papa. It is his dedication to God, family, and country that will live in the hearts and memories of everyone that knew him.
Struck by the need to trust in Christ’s redeeming work alone for his salvation, Richard pulled over on a country gravel road and accepted Christ as his Savior when he was 24. It was in that first quiet moment he knew God’s plan for his life was to tell the world of Christ’s love and redeeming plan; ‘For by grace are you saved, through faith; not works, it is gift of God” Eph 2:8-9.
Richard is survived by his three children: Rose Marie Scott-Slater (Kevin), Daniel Justin Scott, and Kelley Langosch Scott (Heather); his grandchildren: Brianna Cellan, Mackenzie Hepworth (Joseph); Rylee Scott (Morgan); Ashling Scott; Cullen (CJ) Riskedahl, Triona Scott; step-grandchildren Shelby Slater and Caleb Slater; step-great-grandaughter Marleigh Kite; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Beth (Hogg) Scott; daughter Melody Riskedahl; sister Nancy Geyer; brothers James and Robert Scott; parents Wesley Scott and Anne Langosch; nephews James Scott and Mitchell Geyer.
