Ron Blair, 79, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m.Saturday at Ankeny Funeral Home with burial at Brethren Cemetery in Elkhart, Iowa.

Ron was born in West Des Moines, the son of Tom and Murl Blair. He graduated from Ankeny High School and lived most of his life in Ankeny. He served In the U.S. Marines during the Korean conflict. Ron retired as Vice-President of Sales for Mid Central Plastics in West Des Moines. He was an avid golfer and he dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol; son, Chris (Chele) Blair; two daughters, Rhonda (Buz) Phelps and Debbie (Don) McAtee; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mae Deane Frisk; two brothers, James Blair and Roger (Kay) Blair; and daughter-in-law, Diane. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Blair and sister, Betty Hutton.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ankeny Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ankeny Historical Society.
