Sharon Louise Gallagher

Sharon Louise Gallagher was born on April 2, 1941, in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Earl Durwood and Dolores Viola (Ehrhardt) Smith. She was raised in Northwestern Iowa. Sharon earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Viterbo College in La Crosse, Wisconsin and her Masters in Human Relations from The University of Oklahoma, specializing in nonprofit management.

Sharon lived in Saskatchewan, Canada for 16 years and her son, Carmy and daughter, Denise and her grandchildren, Shanice and Zander still reside in Regina, SK. Sharon stayed in touch with many Canadian friends after moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma to escape the cold winters. She loved living in Tulsa and considered it home. While there she worked with Leadership Tulsa, The University of Oklahoma – Tulsa, and the Tulsa Area United Way resulting in many professional opportunities and friendships.

In 2020, Sharon moved to Ankeny, Iowa to be closer to family. Sharon is preceded in death by her daughter, Laura; parents, Earl and Delores Smith, and sister Mary. Left to remember her are her son, Carmy; daughter, Denise; two grandchildren, Shanice and Zander; her twin sister, Shirley (Ed) Huster; brother, Jim (Dorothy) Smith; three sisters, Elaine Westbee, Kathie (Tom) Jackson, Barb Woodall, and several beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Youth Services of Tulsa, 311 S. Madison Ave, Tulsa, OK 74120, Clarehouse, 7617 S. Mings Road, Tulsa, OK 74133 or the Food Bank of Iowa, 2220 East 17th Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50316 in loving memory of Sharon.
