Vernon “Skip” Anderson, 63, passed away Friday, March 11 at his home in Bondurant. Visitation will be 4 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Bondurant High School, 1000 Grant St. N, Bondurant, IA. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 16 at Bondurant High School, with burial at a later date.
Skip was born February 15, 1948, son of Hank and Shirley Anderson. He married Carrie Anderson on June 12, 1970. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School on 1966 and went on to UNI, where he participated in basketball and track. After graduating from UNI he went on to be a graduate assistant and coach the freshman basketball team. Skip was a teacher and coach at Harris-Lake Park and Rockwell City-Lytton Community Schools and served as an administrator at Perry and Ackley-Geneva Schools. He retired from Bondurant-Farrar Schools in 2009, where he served as secondary principal for 11 years.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Anderson; children, Amy (Dana) Scheidegger, Jennifer Kasiar, and Ben (Jill) Anderson; six grandchildren, Aaron, Ethan, Carson, Max, Mya, and Gracie Mae; parents, Hank and Shirley Anderson; sisters, Kathi (Ron) Thompson, Jan (Jack) Landy, and Pam (Scott) Petersen; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa or University of Northern Iowa Panthers of the Past.
