Vince was born on July 15, 1948, in Jefferson, Iowa to Kenneth Lee and Eleanor F. (Carroll) Whitcomb. He graduated from YJB High School in 1966. He continued his education in Missouri, majoring in accounting and minoring in transportation. After college, he began working with Schmidt and Henry in the office. Later he began working for Iowa Machinery and Supply which later became MH Equipment. Vince worked there as a Corporate Logistics and Transportation Manager until his recent retirement in February of 2025. Vince and Mary Bartelt were united in marriage in 1971 and enjoyed 55 years of love and companionship.
Vince was a member of the Iowa Street Rod Association, Minnesota Street Rod Association and the Des Moines Jaycees. He was very involved in giving to charities, homeless shelters, Toys for Tots, providing gifts to seniors at Christmas, Food Banks, and animal shelters. When at home, he enjoyed mowing for relaxation. Vince and Mary enjoyed numerous hobbies over the years, they rode motorcycles, after Vince taught Mary how to ride, their first trip was to St. Louis. Their next hobby was a 16-foot Larson boat which they used at Saylorville Lake. Finally, their main hobby were Street Rods. Over the years, Vince and Mary had approximately ten different Rods and one pickup. Their favorite was a 38 Nash with suicide doors. They went to various car shows with the longest trip to Louisville for the Street Rod Nationals. There were also many local car shows over the years that they went too.
Vince is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary Whitcomb; his sister, Ann Marie Adams; sister-in-law, Deloris Hill and her family and several nieces and nephews.
