

Virginia Jones, 98, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at The Bridges of Ankeny. A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017, at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church (2110 W. 1st Street Ankeny, IA 50023).
Virginia Appleton Kay was born June 20, 1919, in Waltham, Massachusetts to Hanford J. and Winnifred A. (Marshall) Kay. She graduated from Malden High School in Malden, MA in 1937 and earned her Bachelors of elementary education degree in 1941 from Salem State University in Salem, MA. Virginia was united in marriage to Rev. Robert Kimpthorne Jones Jr. on June 29, 1943 in Malden. Virginia was a minister’s wife, elementary school teacher for the Framingham MA Schools and later in life she and Robert were Radio Shack Franchise owners.
Virginia enjoyed traveling, reading, baking, knitting and sewing. She was quite the card shark in her free time and did many puzzles as well; she also liked to go camping and visiting with her children and grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by her two children: son, Kenneth (Shirley) Jones and daughter, Marge (Dave) Lindt; grandchildren: Robin (Mike) Steward, Steven (Heather) Jones, Paul (Shannon) Jones, Harold Schleicher, April (Emilio) Lindt, Tyler (Heidi) Schleicher, Levi (Jessica) Schleicher and Alex Lindt; great-grandchildren: Riley Steward, Caroline Jones, Nolan Jones, Isaac Jones, Sarah Jones, Micah Jones, BreAnna Schleicher, John Schleicher, Gabriel Lindt Carrillo, Sophia Schleicher, James Schleicher, Lauren Schleicher and Abby Schleicher; she is further survived by a sister-in-law, Beverly Jones. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, sister, Dorothy Kay Brennan and brother, Hanford Marshall Kay.
