Warren Jenkins

Warren G. Jenkins, 73, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away March 6, 2024. Warren was born on November 10, 1950, in Decatur, Illinois to Warren and Jacqueline (Yantis) Jenkins. Warren attended West Liberty High School in Iowa where he met his future wife Joyce (Burr). Warren went on to graduate from Iowa State University and worked as a certified public accountant with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. before transitioning to a 37-year career serving the State of Iowa as Chief Deputy Auditor. His grandchildren loved visiting him at his golden “castle” before his retirement in 2016.

Warren loved watching the Iowa State Cyclones, NASCAR, and Wheel of Fortune. He also enjoyed reading, solving puzzles, and puttering in the yard. But he loved nothing more than his family. He relished the role of “Poppy”.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Jacqueline Jenkins; and his wife of 47 years, Joyce Jenkins. Warren is survived by sisters Brenda Sage of DeSoto, Iowa; Karen (Richard) Thimmesch, of Ankeny Iowa; Marcia (Craig) Poling of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Anita Jenkins of Avon, Indiana.

Warren’s legacy lives on through his children Matt (Jen) Jenkins of Spring, TX; Chrissy (Mitch) Cochran of Urbandale, IA; and his adored grandchildren; Emma, Sophie, Abby, Emerson, and Cleo.
