So sorry to hear of Stuart's passing. Stuart was always a pleasure to work with in my role as a project manager for the Iowa Army National Guard Construction & Facilities Management Office.  Very professional and very personable.  My condolences to his family.

Stuart and I were good friends in elementary and junior high in East Ridge. I will always remember his kindness and sense of humor. Stuart was always a true friend, and those are hard to find. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I came to know Stuart shortly after he joined the State Fire Marshal's office and the Fire Systems Contractors Advisory Board was created.  I recall fondly how during Board meeting breaks we'd visit about our common interest in Drum Corps International - he the brass man, me the percussionist.  

Stuart was the right man in the right position at the right time to bring Iowa's building and fire codes forward into the 21st century.  He did so with a high degree of integrity, intelligence and patience.  I sincerely enjoyed working with him. 

My deepest and sincerest condolences to his family.

I remember Stuart in the band in high school. We had a great time together with Kim at our 30th high school reunion in 2009. He was a great friend and will be missed.

I, and the members of the Iowa Manufactured Housing Association, worked closely with Stuart since he took the job of Building Code Commissioner.  In my 31 years with the association, we never had a full time building code commissioner. It was always an additional duty for the Fire Marshal. Stuart certainly set the mark for what the job of building code commissioner should be. He was very knowledgeable and a very thoughtful listener.  He could solve problems.  He was a frequent speaker at our association meetings. We all enjoyed working with Stuart. My office is less than a mile from the DPS building.  I made many trips there to consult with Stuart and his staff. We will all miss Stuart. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Stuart was a wonderful man and friend!  I will miss him so!  My thoughts and prayers are with Kim and Caitlin, whom he adored!

Mr. Crine was a pleasure to work with and always treated me fair.  The first job site of mine that he was on, I knew that the State of Iowa had a good man for the job. I appreciated his hard work, and fairness in the difficult job that he had. May God give peace that passes all understanding to Stuart's family in the days and months ahead.

Stuart and I worked together at the Tennessee State Fire Marshal's Office in Nashville Tennessee. He truly had a heart for the fire service. I and my wife (Leigh) are shocked and sadden at Stuart's passing.   To Kim and Caitlin please accept our extreme sadness and heartfelt sorry of their loss.  We both consider them close friends and cherish the memories of our times together.  I have lost a dear friend and the fire and codes services have lost a dedicated steward and defender.

Through his leadership, Stuart positively influenced the building and energy efficiency code processes in Iowa. I interacted with Stuart in various professional capacities over the last several years, and I always appreciated and enjoyed his knowledge, calm presence, and sense of humor.  I will sincerely miss him, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.

My thoughts and condolences are with Stuart's family.  I worked with Stuart on  some energy efficiency/codes projects over the years and I greatly respected his integrity and leadership.  He will be missed.

I  always  looked  forward  to  talking  to Stuart  at  the  annual  code  conferences. He  was  a  valuable  team member  in the creation  of  Tennessee's  Code Academy  and  we  will miss  him.
