William Franklin Frakes

William Franklin Frakes, 97, of Bondurant, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his home in Ankeny, Iowa. William’s wishes were to be cremated and a private family burial was held on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Bondurant Cemetery in Bondurant, Iowa.

William Frakes was born on December 8, 1917, in Bondurant, Iowa to Harry and Rebecca (McIntosh) Frakes. He was raised in Bondurant, Iowa where he graduated from Bondurant High School in 1936. William married Alice Frakes in 1936 and began raising their four children on the family farm in Bondurant.

William loved fishing and took great pride in taking his children camping in an old school bus he converted into a camper. He loved collecting and selling many antiques and played many games of pool and cribbage after retirement.

William is survived by his son, David Frakes of Ankeny,IA; daughter, Judy Patton (Jack) of Bondurant, IA; Sisters, Coral Jones (Boyd) and Donna Speas (Avery); as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice (Morgan) Frakes; sons, John Frakes (Donna) and William Frakes (Donna); sisters, Pearl Efnor, Margaret Justice, and Dorothy Hayes.
