Alyce Godfrey

She loved her husband, William Godfrey, very much and together they had five children: Mary (Ken) Lewison, Ann (John) Endres, Jane Ellen Godfrey, William (Karen) Godfrey, and Margaret (Michael) Lamb. She is also the loving Grandmother of Aaron and Anders Lewison, Michael and Alexandra Lamb, and Eliza, Hattie and Peter Godfrey.

Alyce was very dear to all who knew her. She was always engaged with those around her, searching for common ground, such as a mutual acquaintance, or a common interest. She worshipped Jesus in part by reaching out to those in need. She sent notes to those who were hurting, and prayed faithfully for them and for all whom she knew. She participated in programs such as Interfaith Hospitality Network and the Rotating Shelter. She even, in her seventies, climbed scaffolding to install siding on a Habitat for Humanity house.

Alyce was a great cook and an avid tennis player. She had a good eye for fashion and design. She was a great organizer, working many jobs where she was indispensable. She was the first manager of Liberty Racquet Club, and, even after she retired, she worked part time in the Trinity Preschool. She was a cancer survivor, which she ascribed to God and almonds.

She was a unique woman, with a keen mind and a love of words. She will be missed very much by us, until such time as we are all reunited in Heaven.

The visitation will be held on Friday, March 2nd from 2:00 until the time of service at 4:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ann Arbor.

More than providing just a bed and a roof for families, our goal at IHN is to support the families in securing and maintaining their own home.
