Though cut far too short, she accomplished a great deal in her 25 years – she attended Community High School and received her GED, completed an Associate’s Degree from Washtenaw Community College, transferred and successfully completed her first semester at the University of Michigan.
Both visually artistic and verbally creative, she enjoyed many forms of self-expression – cooking, drawing, making collages, writing fan fiction, sewing, knitting, and creating tiny intricate dream catchers. She was blessed with a sharp scientific mind as well and was interested in attaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Physics and had been recently working in the kitchen and deli at Lucky’s Market of Ann Arbor.
She loved meeting and befriending strays, both human and animal, and had a huge capacity to love and have compassion for all those who suffered similar struggles as she did, no matter what walk of life they were from. She spent many hours volunteering at Dawn Farms Spera Center on Huron St, gave rides to AA meetings and readily shared her story of experience, strength and hope to all. Her beloved cats Nessie (also known as Noodle) and Bob meant the world to her.
Her inner and outer beauty, vulnerability, compassion and love will be sorely missed by her extended family and vast network of friends and acquaintances.
She is survived by her mother, Susan Nordman of Madrid, NM, and her father, Eric Nordman of Ann Arbor, her grandmothers Sandra Sipkin and Barbara Nordman, both of Ann Arbor, her grandfathers Jeremy Gluck of Seattle, WA, and Christer Nordman of Ann Arbor, MI., her half-brother Aaron Nordman of Marquette, MI and numerous aunts and uncles on both sides – Nancy Edwards-Schmidt, Robert Gluck, Christina Nordman, Aleta Adams and Carl Nordman, and her cousins Kerry Sanders, Jamie Edwards, Lauren Krotz, Andrew Nordman, Cathy Bleta, Anthony Nordman, Ian Adams and Jacob Nordman. She also became an aunt on June 22 to newborn Brysen A. Nordman of Marquette.
A Celebration of Life memorial is being scheduled for a later date.
Donations can be made to Dawn Farm Treatment Center, Dawn Farm Spera Center, the Washtenaw Alano Club and the Humane Society.
