Anna was born in Waukegan, Illinois, on July 27, 1950, to the late Phillip Oliver and Cora May (Lowry) Burton. She grew up in Dearborn, where she attended Emmanuel Lutheran Primary School and graduated from Edsel Ford High School with the Class of 1968. It was during her school years that she met the love of her life, Douglas Brown. The two were married in 1971 and shared more than five decades of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another.
Anna was the matriarch of her family—the one who brought everyone together and made every gathering feel like home. She and Doug built a wonderful life centered around their two sons and, later, their grandchildren, who became the greatest joy of her life. Whether cheering on her grandkids at recitals and school activities, planning unforgettable family vacations to Disney World and the Grand Canyon, or simply gathering everyone around the table for a home-cooked meal, Anna loved every moment spent with her family. She never missed an opportunity to enjoy a meal or a competitive game of cards with her longtime friends, and she will forever be remembered for her strong spirit and the warmth she brought into every room.
Anna was a longtime employee of Henry Ford College's School of Nursing, where she faithfully served in several administrative roles throughout her career. She was known for her dedication, kindness, and willingness to help others.
Anna is survived by her devoted husband, Douglas Brown of Milan; her sons, Scott (Cindy) Brown of Canton and Adam (Megan) Brown of Saline; her cherished grandchildren, Adam, Grace, and Emma Brown; her nephews, Jesse (Catherine) Brown and John Brown; and her great niece and great nephew, Walker and Dennis Brown.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Dan’s Downtown Tavern in Saline, MI on Sunday July 26, 2026 from 1pm to 3pm.
