Lingl, Anton 1938 to 2013 died suddenly on May 8 at his residence he was 75. Anton was born in Sokolovac, Croatia, the son of John and Pauline Lingl. He immigrated to the United States in 1949 and became a citizen in 1961. After his graduation from Alma College, he began his teaching career at Pontiac Central High School and taught there for over 30 years, finally retiring in 1993. He received two Masters Degrees, one from Eastern Michigan University and the other from Michigan State University; he also received his Ph.D from Columbia Pacific University. He married Carol Warner on June 12, 1971 in Brighton, Michigan at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Together they raised their children in Brighton. Anton enjoyed wood carving and the outdoors and many of his carvings replicated nature, especially swans, as well as religious figures; he will be fondly remembered as the “Swan Carver” by his family. Anton leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife; Carol, children; Carol (Michael) Theisen and John (Jenny) Lingl, parents; John and Pauline Lingl, grandchildren; Sarah, Katie and Michael Theisen and Jacob Lingl, a sister; Theresa Lingl, brother in law; Robert Warner, and nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church (530 Elizabeth St. Ann Arbor) at 10:00 A.M. The family will receive friends at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel on Monday evening May 13 from 5:00 until 8:00. There also will be an hour of visitation at the church prior to the service. The funeral procession will take Anton to his final resting place for burial in Forest Hill Cemetery followed by a catered reception at Muehlig Funeral Chapel.
