Arthur attended Cody high school in Detroit, Michigan, graduating in 1957. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Detroit in 1961, and a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit, in 1970.
Arthur worked as an Engineer at Ford Motor Company, where he became a world-wide expert in transmissions for the F-Series brand of trucks.
Arthur had many interests throughout his life. He was an avid collector of coins and stamps, and proudly maintained a continuous membership with the American Philatelic Society for over 40 years. A life-long learner with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, Arthur spent much of his spare time reading books and magazines of all kinds. He also had a passion for learning languages, particularly German and Polish. He enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, and was a member of several bridge clubs along with his wife Marcia. Arthur’s love of history led him and his son Michael to take annual trips to visit Civil War monuments and memorials, with a special fondness for Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania.
In addition to his many intellectual pursuits, Arthur had a love of sports, particularly the Detroit Lions and Detroit Pistons. He loved college football, attending Eastern Michigan University games with family and traveling to all of the original Big 10 stadiums with friends. Though he was never officially an “Imagineer”, Arthur’s love and passion for all things Disney brought infectious joy to him and those around him.
Arthur is survived by his devoted wife, Marcia, and his children Noelle Ochotny (Mario Morel), Michael (Tanikqa) Ochotny, Sheri (John) Zoeller, Scott Bogard (Kelly Kempter) and Doug (Jan) Bogard. He is also survived by his many grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his sisters Marcella Langwerowski, and Sandra (Paul) Valovick and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arthur was preceded in death by his father, Stephen J. Ochotny, his mother, Stella K. Nalepka, and his brother-in-law, Gerald L. Langwerowski.
