Mom graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1944, where she excelled in Rifle Marksmanship and was active in many of the high school sports.
On May 12, 1951 Betty Lou married the love of her life, Louis C. Bauer. They built a life with love, and committed themselves to nurturing six children together.
Above all, Mom was devoted to her family. She was a caring and involved mother, serving as Room Mother, Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader, and always supporting her kids sporting activities. She drove to away swim meets, organized the after swim meet treats for the Huron High Swim Team, and picked up her kids where and when ever they called. Her commitment to her family and her willingness to give her time and energy made a lasting impact.
Mom found great joy in supporting her grandchildren. Whether it was braving the cold in the stands at the soccer games, walking long distances to see the finish line at the cross country meets, sitting for hours cheering at swim meets, or enduring hard seats at the basketball games - she was there to encourage and celebrate the grandkids’ achievements.
For many years Mom and Dad were active members of the square dancing community. They cherished the friendship and joy with this group. In their golden years, they were very active in the senior centers in Ann Arbor and Texas. They especially enjoyed their time as Winter Texans in Corpus Christi. These years were filled with adventure, new friendships, and treasured moments together. Mom was a staunch Detroit Tigers fan. She loved cheering them on especially when she went to the home games with her family.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband Louis, brother Nelson Rose and grandson Blaise Soza. She is survived by her six children, Patrick Bauer (Mary), Joseph Bauer (Laurie), Paul Bauer, Marie Soza (Noe), Peter Bauer, Anne Stone (Rick). Mom was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Throughout her long and meaningful life, Mom was known for her kindness, strength, faith, and love for her family. She touched so many lives with her warmth and generosity.
