Bruce Edward Holbrook

Holbrook, Bruce Edward of Ann Arbor, Michigan died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 after a 6 year battle with ALS; he was 61 years of age. Bruce was born in Ann Arbor the son of Rex and Marjorie Holbrook. He was a graduate of Pioneer High School, class of 1970 and went on to graduate from Trine University in 1974 and Michigan Technological University in 1976. He married Janet Larson on October 2, 1983. Bruce was an avid fisherman and hunter and a devoted and very active member of West Side United Methodist Church. He worked as a civil engineer at the Detroit District of the Army Corps of Engineers retiring in 2005. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; Janet, daughter; Alice, sisters; Sharon (Don) Humes and Barbara Holbrook, nephew; Chris Humes, aunt; Evelyn Carpenter and several cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Side United Methodist Church, the Nature Conservancy, and the ALS Association - Michigan Chapter. A private family burial will take place. A memorial service will be at 12 noon Monday, November 4, 2013 at the West Side United Methodist Church (900 South Seventh Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48103).
