Bruce was a fast and faithful friend--a reality that I learned on first meeting him when I moved to Ann Arbor in 1971, and a fact that did not really change despite time and distance in the years that have followed. He fiercely loved his Lord, his wife, and his children, but his love for them never constrained him from loving the network of many (and varied) friends who naturally sprung up around him. I treasure the memories of Mother's Day celebrations with his 7 and my 5. I wince at the immense patience he called on, trying to teach me to change brake pads and calipers on countless second-hand cars. And I treasure the love that he and Vicki shared with me when many of my friends walked away. He never did, because he never could. A man like this comes into one's life only rarely. I am grateful for knowing him, and better because of that. Love to all his family now and in the days to come.

Uncle, I'll never forget the twinkle in your eye when you joked with your kids and nieces and nephews. You got such joy out of "getting us" with your sharp wit. I'll never forget going to work and touring the lab with you as a very young girl. And EVERY time I smell pipe tobacco your face is in front of me. I am glad you are with the family who went before us until we can be with you again.

Much love to my family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
