OBITUARY

Dennis Michael Broderick

June 25, 1946March 7, 2018

Dennis Michael Broderick passed away on Wednesday, March 7th at the age of 71 in Adrian, Michigan. He was born on June 25, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. He lived the majority of his adult life with his family in Ann Arbor; spending the bulk of his career working for the United States Postal Service in Dexter. Though his heart ultimately gave out he had the most loving heart for his family and friends. Dennis leaves behind a legacy of great stories, deep conversations, philosophical ponderings, and a wry wit. He was adored by his loving family and will be greatly missed. He was a man of integrity who would do anything to help those in need. Dennis touched the lives of many, who fondly called him: Mr. B., Denny, Pops, or Grandpa. Dennis’ love affair with culture, people and their customs, and their culinary traditions was fostered when he served his country in the United States Army Security Agency in West Berlin. He was a self taught chef, an avid reader, and collector of many books. He got the biggest kick out of his grandchildren; they brought him immense joy. Dennis is survived by his daughters Bryne Broderick (Anas Orfali), Ellen Parsons (Curtis), and Claire Broderick; sons Padraig Broderick (Mandi), and Jack Broderick (Sarah); his treasured grandchildren Jacob, Elise, and Nathan Broderick, and Brodie Orfali; step-mother Lena Broderick; brother Wayne Broderick (Jane); nephew Thomas (Dana) and niece Kelly; ex-wife and friend Linda Broderick. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Broderick. He will be forever missed, loved, and cherished. Friends may call on Monday, March 12th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. 4th Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.

Linda & family.......

I never knew Dennis, but I've known you for many years, and so have heard stories about Dennis and your life together. I am so sorry for your loss. Although you and Dennis were no longer together as a married couple, I believe that once Love comes to live in the heart, it is always there. And your family is absolutely full of love.

May you, your children, their spouses, your grandchildren and all your family come together to comfort each other at this sad time.

May you be at Peace.
Love, Elizabeth

I have known Dennis Broderick for @ 50 years. My earliest remembrance was when I first met Dennis at the home of my dear friend Linda's parents in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was home on leave from Germany. I still remember sitting on the couch looking at slides from Linda's travels in Europe (where she met Dennis) and the jangle of her silver bracelet. After they were married and returned from living in Germany, I have many wonderful memories of times together. Dennis was so welcoming in their home; I had many enlightening conversations with him and was always astounded at his wealth of knowledge. He was a nurturing stay at home Dad for years when his children were growing up and cemented strong unbreakable bonds with all of them. He loved and was dearly loved by all his family. Rest in peace, Dennis, and know that you will be forever missed. Judith Wilkinson
