Doris Jean McCalla

Doris Jean McCalla passed away on Saturday the 16th of December, 2017 of natural causes. She was born the 29th of October,1927 in Ann Arbor, Mi, the daughter of George E. and Ethelene (Roe) Bock. She graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1945. On July 20, 1946 she married Glen McCalla, of Ann Arbor. In 1961 she and Glen purchased their farm on Pleasant Lake Road, which stayed in the family for over 56 years. She retired from University of Michigan Registrar's Office in 1988. Doris was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to work in her garden and flowerbeds. In her retirement she and Glen enjoyed traveling. They became snowbirds in 1990 when they purchased a winter home in Brooksville, FL.

Doris was preceded in death by Glen, her cherished husband of over 63 years; her brothers George J. and Robert L. Bock; and grandson Joshua McCalla. She is survived by her children Wayne M. of Ann Arbor; Lynne (James) Weber of Ann Arbor; and Steven C. of Manchester; and her granddaughters Allissa Weber of Ann Arbor; and Cortney (Daman) Miles of Livonia.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and had been a regular customer at Holiday's Restaurant for Friday morning gatherings. A special thanks to the staff of Linden Square Assisted Living Facility for their care and support. Also a thank you to the Arbor Hospice staff, for all their loving care.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Washtenong Memorial Park. Donations can be made in Doris' name to Arbor Hospice, 2366 Oak Valley Drive Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
