

Edward Lee Ritz, age 88, of Brighton, Michigan passed away on Monday August 27, 2018. Edward was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on March 10, 1930 the son of Leo and Catherine Ritz. He attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was a graduate of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School. He was also an altar boy and played football for St. Thomas. After his graduation, Ed enlisted in the Marine Corp and served four years during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge on February 5, 1954, Ed attended Eastern Michigan University graduating with his Bachelor's degree and then on to Wayne State University graduating with his Master's degree. Ed married Dealia Dean in June of 1952 in Tekamah, Nebraska. Ed retired from Ford Motor Corporation's Human Resource Department after 35 years of service. Ed loved to travel with his wife. He enjoyed his summer home in Indian River, Michigan, football and a fine cocktail, but most of all he loved being with his family. He is survived by his devoted daughter; Teri (nee' Ritz) Daniels, grandsons; Shane (Jeni) Sitler and Christopher Sitler, great grandchild; Murphy Green and his loving dog Maggie. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. His parents, his wife, and a brother and sister preceded him in death. Friends may gather at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel on Sunday, September 9, 2018 for visitation and a reception from 1pm to 4pm. On Monday, September 10, 2018, the family will gather at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church (540 Elizabeth St, Ann Arbor) at 9:30 am with mass beginning at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to The Wounded Warriors Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
