Elaine was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 25, 1947, to the late Isadore Arnoff and Henrietta Wolfe. She attended the University of Cincinnati, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
Elaine married Larry C. Landman on July 27, 1969. Together they made Ypsilanti their home and shared a long and devoted marriage. Larry preceded her in death on November 20, 2023.
Elaine and Larry were longtime members of the Michigan Beauty and the Beast Fan Club, meeting monthly for more than 30 years. They also shared a strong interest in science fiction and television, including Star Wars, Star Trek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Supernatural.
Elaine followed politics closely and held strong liberal views. She made a point of watching Fox News as well, saying she wanted to know what “the other side” was thinking. She was outspoken and direct in sharing her opinions.
Elaine loved animals, especially dogs and cats. She was devoted to her dogs, Precious and Homer, and was well known in her neighborhood for feeding the local cats, many of whom reliably came to her for a meal; she was a strong advocate for spaying and neutering.
Elaine was generous with her time and resources and often helped friends when they needed support. She enjoyed going out to dinner and the movies and was known for picking up the check. Many friends relied on her for advice and practical guidance.
Elaine is survived by her brother, Burt (Carol) Wolfe, with whom she shared a close and lifelong relationship. He helped raise her and remained involved throughout her life. She is also survived by many close friends.
Burial will be held at Highland Cemetery.
