

Mitchell, Ethel 4/28/1936 - 6/21/2015 Atlanta, Georgia Ethel Margaret (Johnston) Mitchell passed away at Kindred Hospital on June 21, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 79. Ms. Mitchell is survived by her children Jacquelyn Krane (Paul), John Mitchell (Amanda), James Mitchell, and Grae Gray-Brown (Joshua); grandchildren Deborah Krane, Alexander Mitchell, Jennifer Mitchell, Bennett Brown, and Nicholas Mitchell; siblings Richard Johnston (Kathleen), Grace Jones (Donald), and Deborah Savoie (Michael); and nieces and nephews Eleanor, Ray, Daniel, Douglas, John, Anna, Rebecca, and Rachel. Ms. Mitchell was born on April 28, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio to Charlotte and Raynor Johnston. She moved to Ann Arbor where she attended the University of Michigan. While at the University, she learned to play Duplicate Bridge, which became a lifelong passion. As a competitive bridge player, she achieved the rank of Gold Life Master. She directed tournaments, ran bridge clubs, and shared her expertise by teaching bridge professionally. One of her other joys was the art of knitting and crocheting. Over the years, she gained great satisfaction from gifting her handcrafted afghans and blankets, which were treasured by the recipients. Ethel's greatest passion was her family. She had an intense love for her children and grandchildren. Ms. Mitchell was always willing to give of herself and anything she had. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She never met a stranger that she wasn't willing to help. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, June 26, 2015 at Muehlig Funeral Chapel 403 S. 4th Ave. Ann Arbor. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Muehlig Funeral Chapel.
