Vic was the first lawyer I had the privilege to try a case against after I moved to Ann Arbor more than 40 years ago.  He was a skilled courtroom lawyer and always a formidable adversary.  We were good friends all those years and I will greatly miss our stimulating conversations as well as his intellect and sense of humor.

What a team the Douvan's were! Both Vic and Libby were great conversationalists, good talkers and listeners. And they were great givers notably to Packard Community Clinic. All Ann Arbor gained so much from their presence.

Vic Douvan was a true gentleman. It was always a pleasure to run into him. His relentlessly positive disposition just made people feel better. He was a fine lawyer respected by everyone in the legal community. 
My deepest sympathy to the family.

Vic and Libby were an important part of my life in Ann Arbor and I miss them. Last evening I was at the Zingerman's Road House and thought of Vic's great love of that place and the last time we dined there together . My thoughts are with Kate and Tom and their families. Sheila Feld

Victor Douvan was a great admirer and lover of the Music of Mozart.
Once he went to Dean Boylan at the UM School of Music with a suggestion for a Yearly Mozart Birthday Bash Concert every January. The idea took off like a rocket.
All of this [I had never met Vicot] had its beginning when I, too, had gone to Dean Boylan with an idea of a Mozart Solo piano competition which I offered to pay for out of my own pocket. Pianists from all of the UofM were invited. We even had a Chemistry major play. He sounded almost as good as Lang Lang.
Victor and his wife sat in the audience and loved the piano competition. He met with Dean Boylan afterwards and said that my solo piano should become larger and be changed to a Mozart piano CONCERTO competition. 
Victor and I raised $10,000 to put it on. Professor Gustav Meier conducted, and the audience of 1,200 with standing room only went absolutely ga ga with Mozart fever.
The concert was free. Also, we had ordered a Mozart Birthday Cake large enough to feed 2000 people. 
One Lady wrote in our Guest Book, 
When one is tired of the music Mozart, one is tired of life. 
Another wrote, I came into this concert 84 years old, and I came out 48.

Today the Mozart Concert lives on with the Ann Arbor Symphony.
And all of this because of our Mozart lover, Victor Douvan.

Not only did Victor land his fighter plane on aircraft-carriers in World War II or win law cases in court as a trained attorney, he was also one who wanted to make the people of Ann Arbor an unforgettable free gift: 
The Incomparable Music Of  Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Vic and my late husband Arthur were partners and colleagues for many years. I remember him fondly as a gracious friend.

  Though I had not seen Vic for several years, he was always in my thoughts, a kind and caring man. He shared his love of flying with me.

Victor was part of the famous post-WWII Yukon/Alaska Expedition with my dad Bill. My earliest memory of Vic was from about 50 years ago when he took me on my first plane ride in a 4-seater from Ann Arbor's airport. What a thrill it was looking straight down as he made a steep banking turn directly over Michigan Stadium. Here's to blue skies forever, Vic...Dan Fitzgerald
