It is with heavy hearts, yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Evelyn Lee Bailey Goetz on July 5, 2026, at the age of 94.
Evelyn left this world surrounded by family, and the caring Staff at Saline Evangelical Home. Her gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and her zest for life will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
Born on July 30, 1931 in Clinton, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of Lawrence M. Bailey and Ruth I. Fisk Bailey. She grew up in a home filled with love and laughter, values she carried forward into every aspect of her life. Evelyn was a proud graduate of Ann Arbor High School in 1949.
Evelyn was a woman of grace and strength, who always prioritized family above all else.
In a love story that spanned nearly eight decades, Evelyn was the beloved wife of Herbert John Goetz, and he survives, sharing 77 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life and a loving family, including their son, John Lawrence (Paulette) Goetz, daughter, Julie Liby and daughter Lee Ann Raica (Dave), who preceded her in death. Evelyn’s legacy lives on through her eight grandchildren, who she adored and who brought her immense pride and joy. Her influence will undoubtedly be felt for generations to come, as they carry forward her values of kindness, compassion and love.
After High School, Evelyn worked alongside with her husband John, at Goetzcraft Printers, where together they built a legacy of over 50 years before retiring.
Outside of work Evelyn enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, football tailgating, traveling and entertaining.
Her home was a haven of warmth and comfort where she regularly hosted family dinners that became the highlight of every occasion. An exceptional cook, Evelyn’s meals were made with love and shared with joy, nourishing not just the body but the soul of everyone gathered around her table.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Senior Helpers of Ann Arbor, the staff at Arbor Hospice and the compassionate team at Saline Evangelical Home, for their unwavering support and exceptional care during Evelyn’s final days. Their kindness brought comfort to Evelyn and her family, and for this they are eternally grateful.
A private family service will be held to honor Evelyn’s remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Evelyn’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of giving and her commitment to make the world a better place.
Evelyn will be dearly missed, but her spirit will remain alive in the hearts of her family and friends. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith and her legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her.
