

Frank L. Tarzia passed away on December 1, 2017 at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife Carolyn of 50 years, his daughter Lisa, and sister Rae Sebastiani. His parents and brother preceded him in death.
Frank attended Buffalo State University, City College of NY, and New York University. After teaching in Buffalo and in Germany for the U.S. Military Schools where he met his future wife, Carolyn, Frank returned to NY and recruited for NYU.
Frank became an elementary school principal for the Ann Arbor Public Schools and dedicated most of his life to the future and success of the children of Ann Arbor.
Frank and Carolyn loved to travel and visited many countries and especially looked forward to their annual winter vacations in Zermatt, Switzerland, many times with Lisa and with friends. He loved skiing, hiking, the mountains, and had many favorite restaurants there.
Together with Carolyn, he spent 51 summers in Maine where he hiked almost daily and watched the sunset over Lake Messalonskee.
Music was a major part of his life. He loved attending concerts especially when his wife or daughter was performing. He also loved to sing and share his great love and knowledge of opera.
Visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 PM on December 16 followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 South Fourth Avenue in Ann Arbor. Contributions may be made in his honor to University Musical Society, Michigan Opera Theatre, or Arbor Hospice.
