Judy I am so sorry I am just now hearing about Gary's passing and my heart is breaking. My fondest memory of Gary is his strength and compassion even in his time of distress he was always able to comfort others.

Judy and Family:

I am so sorry to learn about Gary's passing. Please accept my sincere sympathy and condolences.

I remember so well the great fun times we had together from the early days when you and Gary attended our wedding in Lancaster, OH and when Karen and I double-dated with you and Gary while we "chaperoned" at your sorority events. I also remember the fun recent times when I could join you for dinner with Gary at your home. We always had lots to laugh about and discuss.

Gary was a very sound thinker, particularly good business man and an outstanding stock picker. He was well ahead of the game in investing in tech stocks; I admired his financial courage and business acumen. We also had great fun together with our banking/factoring business we put together where Gary acted from home as the general manager while I did field client contact. What a fun, successful venture that was.

I am not sure I have ever known a finer man than Gary; smart, kind, loving to his family and friends, courageous, optimistic, mentor and good friend with great integrity, grace and fortitude. He shall be sorely missed.

I have attached a goofy selfie I took of all of us at our last dinner out in AA. Fun, fun....! As you can see, the three of us were at our silly best again.

We shall miss you so much, dear Gary. God's speed.

Judy and Family:

I just learned of your loss of Gary. I am so sorry to hear this and offer my condolences to you and your family. I really enjoyed working with both of you at University Hospital and Med School so many years ago! I remember those times fondly and also remember the last time I saw you at an Art Fair. My thoughts are with you.

What a beautiful man. Gary had such inestimable spirit and zest for life. Smart, curious, engaging, charismatic. He entered a room as his bright smile lit the path. He was a friend to so many. His love for Judith, his precious children and grandchildren had no boundaries. And that love was returned. I remember having dinner with Judith, Gary and Chandler about 15 years ago. Judith and I drove together because Gary and Chandler had a commitment - relating to school or sports - and had to leave early. At the appropriate time, Chandler stood up, Gary wheeled around and Chandler plopped down on Dad's lap as they zoomed through the dining room together. I so admired Gary and am grateful for having known him. My deepest condolences to all. And joy for his life. Kristi

To Judy and family,
I will always remember Gary's ready smile and enthusiastic spirit from our days as college fraternity brothers. Years later, after we moved to Michigan, your warm hospitality and friendship were really appreciated. Even then, I recall trying to keep up with Gary on the tennis court and ski slopes. But the memory that has stayed with me through the years is a visit I had with Gary during a physical therapy session following his accident. His remarkable character, determination, and love of family that he shared those many years ago will always remain in my thoughts.
With our warmest regards,
Tom and Jean Murray

Gary was an endless cheerleader of all our children. We spent so many nights memorable nights at the Racquet Club laughing endlessly while we tried to solve all the problems of the world. Fraternity man, military pilot, business leader, and most of all husband, father, and friend. His gentle, charming, and respectful nature made him loved by all. Our thoughts and prayers to Judith, Chandler, Jason, Kelly, Gary's beloved granddaughters, as well the entire Calhoun extended family. He will be greatly missed.

Thinking of you...

Gary Calhoun had a tremendous impact on me, and is a man whose dignity, resilience and positive nature I have admired for more than 35 years. I am grateful to have seen him for a visit in late February, just before all our lives turned upside down. Judy, Chandler, Jason and family; Cathy -- and all family in Iowa -- you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love to all. MJB

Our hearts are with Judy, Chandler and Jason,
We enjoyed Gary’s company all the time. Watching the kids play sports or running at the park. Gary was always a gentleman. In the news paper days, he will cut articles that could be of interest to our family and mail it to us. He was always welcoming and cheerful. What a loss. We want the Calhoun’s to know that we loves them and will keep them in our prayers.
