Harry Arthur Dion Sr., born November 1926, died peacefully at home with family by his side in September 2023. Harry was born and raised in Chicago IL. He enlisted in the Navy at 17 years old during WW2. He served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters, beginning with his efforts at the Invasion of Normandy and concluding with his presence at the Armistice signing in Japan, ending the war. He loved his country and his family. His entrepreneurialism began with a hotdog stand, tavern and restaurant ownership and then he eventually started building homes with his father in Chicago. He went on to start Dion Builders, a successful custom home building business with his wife, Patricia, in Ann Arbor MI. He held many licenses and enthusiastically taught many young people the trades. Together the couple built over 100 single family custom homes, including a sub-division in the Ann Arbor area. He was very involved with the Home Builders Association (HBA) and contributed to the building of the current HBA home office. He held the position of president of the HBA during his membership and took great pride in his work with the organization, to which they named him into its Hall of Fame. He continued to work on building projects well into retirement because he loved his chosen profession. He enjoyed his retirement years.
