Henry was known for his sweet nature, his quiet presence, and the gentle humor that could light up a room. He had a generous spirit, always willing to help others without asking for anything in return. His playful side and goofy chuckle could bring a smile even on the hardest days.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—casting a fishing line on a calm day, watching TV with his cats curled beside him, sitting in his gazebo overlooking the lake, or tending to the flower garden his late wife Valentina had lovingly started. After her passing in 2023, caring for that garden became a way for him to keep her close in heart and memory, honoring their nearly 50 years together.
Born in Sault Ste. Marie in 1949, Henry graduated from Lawrence Technological University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a man of precision and detail—traits that served him well in his career, his hobbies, and his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A faithful Jehovah’s Witness, Henry’s life reflected his strong spiritual commitment.
Henry and his wife shared a deep love for traveling, especially to visit her family in Russia and to learn more about her culture. They were married in Russia and cherished their trips there over the years. Closer to home, Henry enjoyed taking family trips to Frankenmuth, where many good memories were made together. He also loved watching K-dramas with his granddaughter Elizabeth, a pastime that brought them closer.
A true survivalist at heart, Henry liked to be prepared for anything—his pantry always stocked with essentials, especially his beloved Dinty Moore stew “just in case.”
Henry is survived by his son, Henry David Baker III, and his grandchildren, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Baker, Logan Alexander Baker, and Sadie Noelle Baker. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Valentina, and his parents, Henry Sr. and Emma Baker.
