Jacob Richard Richter

Jacob (Jake) Richard Richter, age 87, of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Born July 2, 1934, in Ann Arbor, he was the son of Jacob Steven and Mary Jane (Gira) Richter. He was preceded in death by his sister Dolores Catherine (Richter) Ossenheimer.

He graduated from Saint Thomas High School in Ann Arbor in 1952. Jacob was a US Army Veteran and while stationed at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri he met Joseph Steinman who introduced him to his future bride, Barbara (Bobbi) Steinman. Jake worked for A&L Paint and Equipment in Ann Arbor for 37 years. He was considered a true gentleman of the sales profession. After retiring from A&L in 1999, he taught at Washtenaw Community College in their auto body repair program. Throughout his life Jake was a sports fan. Detroit Tigers baseball was always on the radio when he was home relaxing or working in his workshop. He played baseball in high school and never missed a Michigan Football game. He was a ticket taker at home games for many years.

Jake was a devoted Catholic, attending St. Thomas The Apostle Church in Ann Arbor his entire life. He served as an usher for many years at the 4:30 mass on Saturdays.

Jacob is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Steinman) Richter of Ann Arbor; one daughter Patricia Richter Torres and her husband Martin of Decatur, Georgia; one son Richard Jacob Richter of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and three grandchildren Rachel Torres, Abigale Richter, and Fannie Richter.

A visitation for Jacob will be held Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S 4th Avenue, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104. A visitation will occur Monday, September 13, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, 530 Elizabeth St, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104. A funeral mass will occur Monday, September 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, 530 Elizabeth St, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104. An interment will occur Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:15 AM at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, 300 Sunset, Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
