Joan, (Morcom), age 80, August 30, 2013, beloved wife of Roger for 58 years. Loving mother of Robert, and the late Janice. Dearest grandmother of Victoria, Paige, and Joseph. Loving daughter of the late Mae and Thomas Morcom. Sister of the late Thomas Morcom II. Also survived by Great Aunt Florence Kosuta. Joan is a graduate of the University of Michigan school of Nursing and served 25 years as a floor supervisor at the Dearborn location of Jacobsons stores.
Joan and Roger spent many years caring for Joan’s four aunts and one uncle in Detroit. All are now deceased except for Florence (“Floppy”) who is 100 years old and resides in a St. Clair Shores Nursing Home. Joan loved to travel and she and her husband managed to visit the great majority of the 50 states plus several Canadian Provinces. England, France and Scotland were wonderful experiences, as well as annual visits to the Homestead Resort near the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Season tickets to the U of M football games, the 1998 Rose Bowl, frequent U of M concerts, recitals, and plays were of particular interest. Joan and Roger’s honeymoon in New York City began almost annual getaways to New York City. Joan and roger were married at Mt. Olivet Methodist in Dearborn and are now members of Ann Arbor’s First United Methodist Church, where a memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 15, at 2:00PM. They have resided in Ann Arbor for 25 years.
