Joan Marguerite Skadsen

Joan Marguerite Skadsen, age 88, of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020. Joan was born July 26, 1932 in Ludington, Michigan to Jewel and Samuel Kistler. Her father worked for the Gas Company and later the United States Forestry Service and so Joan was raised in several different cities throughout the country before settling in Portland, Oregon. She attended Portland State University where she met her future husband Ralph D. Skadsen. Joan especially enjoyed the company of her beloved cats. She loved to knit and made many afghans for family and friends. Joan is survived by daughter Janice Skadsen (James Egan); sister-in-law Marianne Kistler; granddaughter Julia Egan (Ross Nelson); granddaughter Rachel Egan; and Shadow her cat. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Ralph D. Skadsen; father Samuel Kistler and mother Jewel Kistler. Cremation has taken place and inurnment to reunite with her husband Ralph will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be offered in Joan's name to the Huron Valley Humane Society.
