Kathryn Ann Stivers

Kathy Stivers, age 78, passed away on December 21, 2016. She was born April 16, 1938 in Jones County, IA, the daughter of Henry and Anna Andreesen. In her youth, Kathy was an award-winning pianist and baton twirler, and she was named valedictorian of her graduating class in Olin, IA. She graduated from Luther College with a teaching degree. On August 10, 1957, Kathy married her childhood sweetheart Scott Stivers, and she was the breadwinner while Scott earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Purdue University. They had two children, Sherry and Dan, and were happily married for 53 years before he preceded her in death in 2010. In 1962, they moved to Westland, MI, when Scott took a position with the Ford Motor Company. In 1973, the family moved to Dexter, MI., where Kathy became a Realtor with Waggoner Real Estate in Dexter, which began her very successful Real Estate career. Kathy’s warm and gracious spirit will be missed by her daughter Sherry and son Dan, grandchildren Krin (Amie), Laura (Michael), Kelly (Shawn), Anna and Jack, and great grandchildren Aiden, Addison, Scott, Ava, Olivia, Kalin and Andre. Her family truly appreciates the love and support shown by her many friends, especially Pat and Nancy McLeod, Mary Sue Mancari, Judy Augustine, and Wanda Koch. Per Kathy’s wishes, a family memorial will be held in Olin, IA, where Kathy and Scott’s ashes will be scattered together. A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held June, 2017, at the family cottage that she and Scott purchased 25 years ago, and that she so loved. In place of flowers, Kathy’s family asks that expressions of sympathy be made to the Humane Society of Huron Valley (www.HSHV.org).
