Katie Stimac Carter, of Saline, passed away December 29, 2018 at Michigan Medicine. Katie was a graduate of Saline High School and Captain of the Saline Women’s Crew Team. As a high school junior, she won state champion in a Women's Pair boat. Katie also enjoyed riding horses and competing. She bought her first horse last year, a Fresian Sport Horse named "Oakley", who lives with Katie's "second Mom and Dad" Lee and Lea Brothers in Dundee, Michigan. She was an ordained minister, published historical transcriber, gifted artist and writer. She loved all animals, particularly those cute and fuzzy.
Katie is a teacher of life and life lessons in the gentlest and most graceful of ways. The sparkle in her eyes, infectious smile, ability to find the humor and good in any situation and kind soul will be deeply missed by all those she touched.
Katie is survived by her husband, Tim Carter; parents Jenny & Matt Stimac; brothers, Mickey and Ben Stimac; grandparents, James and Roberta Stimac and Joe and Betty McMahan; in-laws, Diane and Scott Carter and sister -in-law, Sarah Carter.
Friends and family may gather to visit at First Presbyterian Church of Saline, 143 East Michigan Avenue, Saline, Michigan on Friday - January 4, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Judy Shipman, presiding. For those attending, additional parking has been graciously offered by Trinity Lutheran Church, the north side of the Saline Fire Department Station, at Union School (behind the church), and at Saline City Hall. In lieu of flowers, friends may honor Katie’s memory with a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
