Kevin Leigh Maloney

KEVIN LEIGH MALONEY (Nov. 27, 1955 - Nov. 23, 2015) Kevin passed away days before his 60th birthday after a long fight with melanoma. He grew up in East Detroit and Grosse Pointe Woods, running cross country for 1973 state champion Grosse Pointe North as well as University of Detroit (Mercy). After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Kevin earned his masters degree from Wayne State University. He spent over 30 years at EDS/HP designing, managing and delivering training to technology professionals around the world and just recently retired. In addition to his numerous friends from school, work and running, Kevin left a lasting impression on many others through his love and encyclopedic knowledge of music. He worked part-time at music stores, composed and performed, and shared songs from his vast collection to the pleasure of everyone around him. Kevin is survived by his wife, Julie (Hayden), his daughters Caitlin LaPratt (Jeff) and Jillian, their mother, Maria (Vanderham) Handlen, his father, Henry, and siblings, Megan and Sean (Laura), as well as grandchildren, Vincenzo and Mia. His youngest sister, with whom he ran the L.A. marathon (one of his dozens), and his mother predeceased him. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 1 at St. Mary Student Parish in Ann Arbor at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass at 10 AM. A military honors ceremony will follow at the church. There will be a burial service at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly at 2:30 PM.
