He is survived by his parents, Billy & Gabrielle, his siblings Esther, Elliott & Genevieve and their partners Scott, Jenn, & Thomas. He has a unique love in his heart for his nephew, Little Thomas. Although this is intended to summarize the departed’s entire existence, it is worth noting that becoming an uncle in February gifted newfound levels of joy to Liam. “Making that little guy cool”, was his stated purpose.
Liam’s authentic. Vibrantly, wonderfully so. In a world of manners & decorum, Liam was blunt, honest, and wore his heart on his sleeve. Liam is utterly himself. He was aspirational to strangers, inspiring to friends & endearingly annoying to family.
Liam’s cool. He had the nicest clothes, best shoes & most expensive thing on the menu. He had a wonderful sense of style. There wasn’t an item of clothing he couldn’t pull off—including his shirt at most family weddings. His appreciation of aesthetics extended to photography, fashion, storytelling and a burgeoning career combining these loves.
Although he was the coolest guy in any room he entered, Liam was defined by his kindness. He had a big, giving heart, accommodating any request with a simple, “I got you.” Liam was sensitive, thoughtful & always championed the little guy. He offered no judgement towards the world, just a compassionate ear & wry smile.
The man was unique and utterly beloved because of it. His circle is devastated by his passing. Not because of the memories we cherish but for those to come that will not be enhanced by his presence.
He was aura, he was magic, he was light. He was Liam.
We are crushed by his passing but lifted by his spirit. We hope Liam is joyfully reunited with loved ones in the afterlife—specifically his chosen brother Matthew.
Detroit just lost its realest one.
