Marjorie Kern Zugich

Age 91, died Sunday, September 18, 2011. She was born in Cleveland, OH, September 22, 1919, to parents Lydia (Oestermeyer) and Gustave I. Kern. She is survived by daughter, Nancy J. Fohrell of Arnold, MD; daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie A. Zugich and Ted Klontz of Nashville, TN; sister, Sue Schambs of Mayfield Heights, OH; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jane Kern of Santa Barbara, CA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kern of Hilton Head, SC; and sister-in-law, Mary Maloney of Bloomington, IL. Preceded in death by brother, Richard Kern of Hilton Head, SC. Marge was married in 1943 to beloved husband, John J. Zugich (deceased, 1992). She was a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School (Ohio) and University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, 1941, where she was a member of honorary societies Iota Sigma Pi, Rho Chi, and Phi Kappa Phi. She practiced hospital pharmacy from 1941 to 1978, and was Charter Member of American Society of Hospital Pharmacists. Community service included United Fund, March of Dimes, House by the Side of the Road, Pioneer High School PTO Board, and Alumni Board of Governors for U of M College of Pharmacy. Member of Ann Arbor City and University Women's Golf Clubs, U of M Faculty Women's Club, Ann Arbor Women's City Club, and First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Friday, September 23, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. Fourth Ave. Ann Arbor.
