I just recently found out about Mark's passing. I first met Mark when I arrived at Vance AFB in Enid, OK in November of 1979 to begin Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training. I was checking into the base billeting office having driven there from South Carolina. I was a recent ROTC grad and of course Mark was a Zoomie and knew a lot more about the Air Force than I did. In my ignorance, I thought they would have quarters waiting on me when I arrived. I found out very quickly they did not. I started to panic thinking about where I would sleep that night, but thankfully Mark was there checking in also. He put his arm around my shoulders and assured me that we'd find a place to sleep and that very soon the AF would find a place for us, which they did. He helped me through those first few weeks and months of AF life. I also remember him helping me as we approached graduation and finding out we needed a mess dress. I had inherited a mess dress from my uncle, but it was several sizes too big. I mentioned this to Mark who took me to his room and asked me what size I needed. I told him 40R `as he commenced to open his closet and pick through a stash of mess dresses stored there until he found a 40R. I asked him why he had so many and he told me that when cadets would get washed out of the academy, he'd offer them $50 dollars for all their uniforms and gear. He'd later resell them at a good profit! An entrepreneur after my own heart! I regret that we lost touch over the years, but he made an impression on me that endures to this day! So sorry to hear about Mark. I am a retired NWA/Delta pilot and I flew with Mark a few times out of Anchorage. He was a nice guy and I will always remember him for his "appetite". To Mark’s family- my condolences for your loss.  
I flew with Mark as his F/O at Northwest Airlines on several trips.  He was a very outgoing guy with a HUGE personality.  I’m not sure whose jokes he liked more-mine or his, but he laughed a lot.  My memories of him are of someone who loved stories, being with people and being very supportive of me as his First Officer.  
I can still hear him laughing at some story about Alaska now..

I’m so sorry for your loss. Mark was always a pleasure to fly with. He loved his family and always talked about them. He knew how blessed he was.

Mark and I were summer roommates at his alma mater and we both sang in the choir when we were there. His energy and outlook helped me through some trying times at the Air Force Academy. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. [Scott Chimelski, 79]

For a while Mark was a member of Delta Golden Wings, Inc. , an official pilot retiree organization of Delta Air Lines.  As secretary, I want to add a fraternal message of sympathy on behalf of all the members who knew him.  We send this to each of his survivors, reminding each that their contacts with him will never be forgotten even though he has made his "Final Flight Westward".  His life will be missed by family, close friends and many he made contact with.
May God's blessings be with each of you as you adjust your life to his passing.

Mark and I worked together at Northwest and Delta.  He was always a compassionate and caring person.  He simply liked people…..

I was flying from DTW to PHX years ago, and he had the most enormous green AF B-4 bag filled to the gills, and asked if I would store it in the cockpit, as the overhead bin was way too small.  I happily obliged, and Mark was appreciative!  Think he was moving stuff for his family - never knew the contents of that huge bag!

To Cynthia and the Cebuhar children,

My heartfelt condolences for the loss of your husband and father.  Mark was my classmate and squadron mate, and over the past 45 years, he became a close confidant and dear friend,  We had long phone conversations  — you know how Mark liked to talk — about our shared Catholic faith, life, the world, etc., but most often he talked about you, his family. 
He cherished his roles as a husband and father.  It was his reason for being and why if any of you needed him, he would move mountains to be by your side.   I have to smile, recalling that Mark always seemed to call from somewhere different because he was with one of you — usually after catching several connecting flights, invariably getting bumped, and being up half the night.  
The love he felt for you was also conveyed to his good friends of which I was blessed to be among.  When I had a renovation project, he said “I have some stuff you could use,” and showed up in a couple days in his Prius jammed with “stuff.”   And typical Mark, he stayed a week to help me finish my project.
Speaking with several other classmates, we concluded that he had the biggest heart and was the most genuinely selfless person we’ve known — and that’s why his passing stings so much.
He was always there if we needed anything  — and now he isn’t.  
Again, my condolences to you, Cynthia, and your children, for the loss of Mark.
It is true, isn’t it?  You don’t know what you have until it is gone,

To Cynthia and the rest of Mark's family and friends: 
We will miss Mark. As those of us from his US Air Force Academy class mourn his passing, we know Mark lived a full life. As a B-52 pilot, he proudly served his country & contributed to our national security. As an airline pilot, he  provided his passengers and fellow crewmembers with a safe flying experience. All in all, he made a difference to those around him. That's even more true to the ones that mattered the most in Mark's life... his family. 
He may be gone from this earth, but I'm sure he will always be watching out for the ones that meant everything to him. Now, he has a "God's eye view" for those he loved throughout his life.
Rest in peace, Mark. You will be missed but you will also be remembered.  Take care, classmate.

Mark  Cebuhar was a good cadet, a good officer, and a wonderful person.  It was an honor to know him at the Air Force Academy.  His memory will endure!

Thoughts from my friend Mark,

We need to do something.
Why isn't it done already?
Caught in emotion of the moment. regroup. move forward.
Always care about those that do not have.
He hated seeing others struggling since he knew many times where he and those he loved struggled.
He wanted to serve and have others know about his friend, Jesus Christ.

For an Airforce Officer, may God's B52s (angels) come and take you to paradise.  Rest safe my friend.

Mark was a truly generous man, working hard to make things and people better. I remember many times he would offer help, resources, or a least a pithy comment. He will be missed!

He was the most generous brother and the hardest working individual. The world has lost a true shining star.
