

Shearer. He grew up in various locations on the east coast as his father was a Naval Commander. The family finally settled in N. Charleston, S.C and he graduated from the College of Charleston and received his MD degree from the Medical College of South Carolina. He did his psychiatric residency at University of Michigan and married Marguerite Raft, MD in 1961. He practiced in Ann Arbor from 1963 to 1997 with the exception of 2 years he and his wife spent as Research Associates with Masters and Johnson. He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters Millie (Jonathon) Gross of Lafayette, CA, Christine Shearer of DeWitt, MI, a son, Thomas (Julie) of Northville, MI, two grandchildren Sydney and Grant Shearer, two sisters Sallie Taylor of Brentwood, MO, Jane Sharpe of Hanahan, S.C., and a brother, Robert Shearer of Dallas, TX. He was deeply committed to helping people. He and his wife co-authored a syndicated column in the Detroit Free Press for 29 years answering questions about sexuality and relationship issues. Marshall donated his body to the University of Michigan Medical School. A memorial service will be held at 3PM on December 20, 2014 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor, 400l Ann Arbor-Saline Road. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Spiritual Growth and Development Program for youngsters at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor.
