
Mary Ann Brown, age 91, died peacefully at home in her sleep on Tuesday, December 28, after celebrating a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. Born July 3, 1919 in Crookston, Minnesota, Mary Ann was raised in Sturgis, Michigan. She married Jack Brown in September, 1943, and moved to Ann Arbor in 1948. In 1972, Mary Ann worked with Jack to launch Control Gaging, a manufacturing company specializing in electronic precision measuring devices which have become widely used in industry. She was an active volunteer in the community, a member of the First United Methodist Church, the YMCA, and the Huron Valley Swim Club, and enjoyed traveling the continent with Jack in their RV. She is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Brown (Howard White), Jane Brown, and Gloria Wilson (David Wilson), in addition to eight well-loved grandchildren—Kate Wilson, Chloe Wilson, Michael Wilson, Alex Wilson, Ellie White, Annie White, Emily Gallop, and Sarah Gallop. She was preceded in death by her sister Peggy, from Carson City, Michigan, and enjoyed a close relationship with her nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4. Memorial contributions may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 120 S.
