Mary Caroline Porter passed away peacefully on Saturday July 5th, 2025. She was born to John and Katie Burke in Atchison Kansas on July 11th, 1937, but spent most of her childhood in Phoenix Arizona. She attended Wellesley College, then later in life received a master’s from the University of Michigan. Mary was an avid reader, an excellent cook, and a dedicated swimmer that could be found at the pool six mornings a week for most of her life. She and Richard travelled and lived across the globe for many years before settling in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Formidable in both presence and wit, Mary will be greatly missed.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Richard, and her daughter Jennifer. She is survived by her son John (Brooke), and grandsons Blake and Chase.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday July 26t at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Ann Arbor. Please join us in the parish hall for a luncheon immediately following the service.
