Merle B McDonald passed away at home on January 13, 2023 in Brighton MI, at the age of 89. Merle completed his undergraduate work at Nebraska Wesleyan and received his masters at the University of Nebraska. After receiving a Mott Foundation Fellowship, he received his doctoral degree at Western Michigan University. He taught at all levels of public education and finished his career with 15 years as the superintendent of schools in Flushing, MI. Upon retirement, Merle was a team member on senior softball teams in Michigan and Florida and participated in senior softball tournaments throughout the U.S. Merle and Eudoris are long standing members of the United Methodist Church in Port Charlotte Florida. Merle is survived by Eudoris, his loving wife of 67 years. Son, Steve (Kathy); daughters Debbie (Mark), Pam (Craig), Cathy (Bill); 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and brother, Gene (Dorothy).
