Michael Thomas Mobley

Mike was born on November 17, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to Wilber and Thelma Mobley. He spent his childhood in the Ypsilanti and Detroit area and always treasured visits to his grandmother's home in Detroit. Mike attended Willow Run High School before being drafted into the United States Army at the age of 25. He proudly and faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970.

Following his military service, Mike began a 30-year career with Ford Motor Company, where he worked as a press operator. It was there that he met the love of his life, Lynne. The two shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. Mike was a devoted husband who always made sure Lynne had everything she needed. Whether helping around the house or making his famous chili, he showed his love through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support.

Mike had a lifelong passion for automobiles. Among his favorite vehicles were his cherished 1968 Plymouth Road Runner and his 2020 HEMI Orange Dodge Challenger. He was also an avid Civil War history enthusiast. Mike and Lynne enjoyed traveling together in their motorhome, visiting Civil War battlefields and historic sites throughout the country. One of their favorite trips was to see the H.L. Hunley submarine in South Carolina. They also loved spending time traveling to Mackinaw in their motorhome.

Mike was a proud member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the Moose Lodge. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, especially when it came to University of Michigan athletics, with football holding a special place in his heart. For a time, he also enjoyed working at University of Michigan sporting events, combining his love of sports with the excitement of game day.

Mike will be remembered for his patriotism, strong work ethic, generous heart, love of family, and the many wonderful memories he created with those who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne Mobley, his children; Tarin (Michael) Mobley-Small, John Minor, Michelle Dielman, Toni (James) Bell, and Christian Mobley, his grandchildren, as well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mike is also survived by his sisters: Margaret and Robbie and his sister in law, Pamela (Curtis) Fick. Mike is preceded in death by his sister Mary, his parents, and his beloved grandson Kayden.

A visitation for Mike will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, located at 403 South Fourth Ave, Ann Arbor, MI, beginning at 10:00 am, until the time of service at 12:00 PM. Following the service, Mike will be laid to rest at Washtenong Memorial Park.
