

Berki, Myrna "Minnie" Ann Arbor February 25, 1936-December 7, 2015 Minnie passed away after a long illness, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of Harry and Jenny Wexler and was born in NYC. After high school, she worked as a secretary and took evening classes at Columbia University, where she met her future husband, Sylvester E. Berki. After they married they moved first to Ithaca, NY where Sylvester (Sy) had a faculty position at Cornell and then to Ann Arbor, where he took a faculty position at the University of Michigan. It was there that she spent many happy years, with him and with her family. They loved to travel, and were known to host many dinners for the local Democratic party, and for Sy's students, colleagues, and friends. Minnie was an accomplished chef and she volunteered at the local hospice care. She was also actively involved in the local JCC, until she became ill. She will be greatly missed. She was proceeded in death by Sy in 1996, and survived by her children: Lisa (Mike Waldman), Andrew (Jill Berki), Matthew (Amina Nuh), and her grandchildren: David and Emma Waldman, Eric and Anna Berki, and Tasneem, Salman, Sumaya, Aisha, and Halima Berki.
