It is with sorrow and gratitude that we announce the passing of our grandmother, mother, aunt, sister, teacher, and friend, Patricia Mae Webber née Bauer. She left to meet her heavenly family on July 16, 2025 at the age of 80 from Glacier Hills in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Pat was born on June 21, 1945, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to Helen Mae Bauer née Nelson and Francis Bauer. From an early age, she showed an incredible passion for life and a talent and joy for dancing, from ballet to ballroom. She participated in many dance shows and competitions as a young person and continued that passion by giving ballroom lessons to her children and their friends at the church they attended.
Pat graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1963 and went to college at the University of New Hampshire, spending a year studying abroad in Marburg, Germany where she converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When she returned from Germany, she transferred to Brigham Young University in Utah where she graduated with a bachelor’s in social work minoring in German.
Throughout her life, Pat had a deep faith in Christ and was heavily involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She devoted much of her time to the church where she served in many roles, from leading the women’s organization, the Relief Society, to serving as a visiting teacher and visiting angel to other women in the church, to teaching Sunday School to teenagers, Primary to elementary and middle schoolers, and toddlers in the Nursery. She loved working with the children of the church more than anything else. Her efforts in this area touched countless lives. Her work will continue to benefit those she helped for many years to come. She believed in giving back to the most vulnerable among us and leaving the world a better place.
Pat’s impact was not just limited to her church work. She was a cherished member of her family. Her love and guidance shaped the lives of her three children, four grandchildren, and many others who looked to her as a mentor, friend, and role model. As a family, we continue to be grateful to those she touched for reaching out with your stories of how she took you under her wing and helped after the passing of a spouse, a child, postpartum depression, the trauma of divorce, and many other of life’s difficulties. Her wisdom, compassion, and encouragement were a constant source of support. Our family will forever carry the lessons she taught us including the one she emphasized to us most—service to others.
Beyond her work in sales, work in her church, and family life, Pat enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. These included dancing, swimming, reading, music, and gardening. Her home was often filled with the sounds of her singing along to songs from her favorite hymns to songs she loved from the 50s and 60s.
Patricia is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Mae Castillo and Amy Catherine Webb, her grandchildren, César Josué Castillo, Corbin Avery Webb, Lucas Gryffin Webb, and Kylan Cave Castillo Stebbins, her sister, Judith Ann Holbrook née Bauer, her three sisters-in-law, her ex-husband, James Cave Webber III, and many nieces and nephews that she adored on both the Bauer and Webber sides of the family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Mae Bauer née Nelson and Francis Bauer, her sister, Beverly Lacrosse née Bauer, and her son, Joshua Cave Webber. While her passing leaves a deep void, her legacy of love, service, and generosity will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1385 Green Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48105 on Saturday, July 26th at 10 am. Burial at Arborcrest Memorial Park, 2521 Glazier Way, Ann Arbor, MI 48105 will immediately follow and all are welcome to join the processional.
Although we will miss her, we find comfort in knowing that Pat’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her memory will continue to inspire us to live with kindness, generosity, and purpose.
May her soul rest in peace with God and the family that preceded her, especially her son, Joshua Cave Webber, whom we know she looked forward to reuniting with since the day of his passing. She can set aside her cares, knowing that the world is forever changed for the better because of her.
