Hoskins, Phillip A., M.D., 80 passed away peacefully Monday, December 28, 2015 after a courageous battle with multiple cancers. Born in Indiana, a true “Hoosier”, Phillip was in general medicine prior to being the very first Interventional Radiologist at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. Phillip was a brilliant, one of a kind successful doctor who was even recognized internationally for his excellence and service over the years. He was highly respected by his colleagues. After his retirement Phillip continued to be extremely generous with his medical knowledge. He continued to be up to date and current with CEU credits in all medical fields as late as this past November. Phillip was a gentleman who lived a wonderful life the way he wanted to. He served two years in the Air Force, and perhaps that led him to a passion of flying and traveling all over the world many, many times over. He truly touched the lives of everyone he met with his never ending generosity, his smile, his quick wit and sense of humor, and warm caring heart. Phillip was omnipotent, well read, a wonderful cook, and always made time to shop for “bargains” at Thrift Shops for decades with his sharp and keen eyes. Phillip was only graciously capable of giving and would not receive. He forever helped out others that were less fortunate than himself. His vast experience and wisdom was dearly appreciated by many. He loved animals, especially dachshund dogs, and his beloved Gus III. Philp also enjoyed the arts and classical music. He considered the Lee family and the Kumasaka family as his second families. Phillip is survived by a nephew, Mark (Toni) Koslow, a niece, Karla and cousins respectfully, Mark Hoskins, Jerry (Noreen) Lekas, and Joanne (Ron) Levine, as well as his devoted friend Paul Kreibich. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Adele; his brothers, David, Harry, and Ronny; his favorite sister Marlene, and his best friend Bill Updike. Muehlig Funeral Chapel of Ann Arbor, MI is entrusted with his care and cremation, and due to Dr. Phillip’s wishes there will be no funeral or services. Donations can be made in his honor to the Ozone House in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
