Dick is survived by his loving wife Kathleen (Kathy) Taylor Davis, with whom he shared almost 63 years of marriage; his son Tom, Tom's wife Elizabeth, and their children Meg and Max (of Andover, Massachusetts); and his daughter Betsy, her husband Garrett, and their daughter Lucy (of Ann Arbor, Michigan). Richard was born in 1932 in Pocatello, Idaho, the only child of Clark and Berta Davis. He was active with his fellow high school alumni from the class of 1950. Dick was a 1955 graduate of Oregon State University and spent most of his professional life at Shell Oil Co. after a brief stint in the U.S. Army. He and Kathy moved all over the country with Shell, living in ten states during their married life. After retiring, he and Kathy traveled far and near, with one accomplishment being their visiting of every one of the 254 county courthouses in the state of Texas. They spent every summer in Pocatello. Dick and Kathy also spent time each January at Big Bend National Park, which was a favorite location. Anyone who knew Dick knows that he was quick with a quip. His family will dearly miss his sense of humor and his stories. A memorial service for the immediate family will be held later in the summer at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Houston Food Bank or Big Bend Conservancy.
