Robert Henry Ahrens (Bob), age 83, of Ann Arbor, MI, (formerly of Rives Junction, MI), passed away February 8, 2011 at his home after a battle with cancer. He was born December 1, 1927 in Jackson, MI, the son of the late Archibald and Dorothy Ahrens. He served in the U. S. Navy as a cook on the U. S. S. Fletcher in the 1940’s. He was employed by Camshaft Machine Company as a general foreman, retiring in 1989. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Rives Junction Township for many years. Bob was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his loving companion, Alberta (Bert) Cousino and her family; his sister Maxine (John Ayers); his son Fred Ahrens of Miami, FL; daughter Amy Ahrens of Jackson, MI; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Jennielee, sister Fran Baldwin, daughter Vickie, man’s best friend Yogi, and many others who were part of his life. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 P. M. on Thursday, February 10 at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 11 at 11:00 A. M. at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel.
